High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Curriculum that focuses on enrichment

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

We design our curriculum to ensure we identify the specific strengths of students not just at the subject level but at the topic level.

We build mastery opportunities into our interconnected curriculum, ensuring students who show a deep understanding of concepts have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in rich, complex ways.

We use effective teaching strategies to ensure students explicitly learn skills that will assist them in unpacking their strengths and talents across various environments.

Across our school

As we grow, we offer diverse curriculum academies to cater for the specific talents and interests of students.

Our individual mentoring program and 'hub' teacher approach ensures all students have an adult who is advocating for their talents across the school.

We will offer a wide range of curricular and extra curricular opportunities to enrich learning and connect learning to community and industrial pathways.

Across NSW

Our students participate in a wide range of statewide programs to extend and enrich student potential.

Statewide/NSW Department of Education level support is available for our high potential and gifted students.

We provide access to local, state and national competitions and events to help students explore and extend their talents. See System level opportunities for examples to customise for your school context.
